Cable&Wireless Worldwide engineers network services for Babcock

Mission critical communications provider, Cable&Wireless Worldwide, has become the single telecoms supplier to Babcock in a significant three year contract. The deal will see C&W Worldwide consolidate Babcock’s legacy network estate and connect its UK and international sites.

C&W Worldwide’s secure and high-speed next-generation network will link some 250 Babcock sites to ensure its business critical communications infrastructure, which is key to its provision of support for public services to the UK government and Ministry of Defence. The network will come with a Managed Encryption Service, delivering an IL3 accreditation, offering enhanced data security and connection to key business areas such as; Defence, Communications, Education, Nuclear and Rail.

By consolidating Babcock’s previously separate networks, C&W Worldwide is helping to redefine its IT infrastructure and pave the way for future projects, such as data centre consolidation and Managed Video Conferencing. The simplicity in the new network design also allows for greater collaboration and visibility of service levels for Babcock colleagues, as well as the ease, speed and cost efficiencies associated with working with a single supplier.

Simon Parker, Chief Information Officer, Babcock, said: “We needed a partner with experience in transitioning networks from legacy providers, who could offer us a highly resilient, future-proof network. C&W Worldwide immediately understood our business and quickly became our partner of choice.”

Matt Key, Managing Director, Enterprise, Cable&Wireless Worldwide, said: “We’re delighted to be selected as the sole provider of telecoms to Babcock – a UK leader in engineering support services. Our network and applications are well placed to assist Babcock in its delivery of critical services and we’re looking forward to further developing our partnership.”
