Juniper Networks Wins ‘Leading Lights’ Award for Best New Product

Juniper Networks® MX80 3D Universal Edge Router Recognized as the Best New Product in the Telecom Market by Light Reading

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 5, 2010 — Juniper Networks (NASDAQ:JNPR, news, filings) today announced that its MX80 3D Universal Edge Router has been honored with the “Best New Product” award in the Telecom category by Light Reading, a leading source for technology and financial analysis of the communications industry. Part of Light Reading’s Leading Lights Award program, these awards are considered among the most authoritative in the industry, recognizing leading companies and their executives for their outstanding achievements in telecommunications. The award was presented on Nov. 2 at an awards dinner in New York City following the first day of Ethernet Expo Americas 2010 New Window .

Light Reading’s editors say the Best New Product category endeavors to recognize a “potentially market-leading product that, through engineering and technical excellence, enables the deployment of profitable next-generation telecom services.”

“We are at a critical inflection point when both enterprises and service providers need to build in the flexibility and scalability necessary to meet the dynamic bandwidth needs today and in the future, while also lowering the total cost of operating the network. The MX80 was purpose built with that in mind,” said Stefan Dyckerhoff, executive vice president and general manager, Infrastructure Products Group, Juniper Networks. “We are honored to receive this award for the MX80 as it is a testament to our industry-leading technology and commitment to innovative solutions that transform the experience and economics of networking.”

The MX80 is part of Juniper’s family of MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers that enable the delivery of business, residential and mobile services at massive scale. The MX Series allow for network optimization for service providers and enterprises by speeding deployment of new services and reducing operational costs and complexity. Based on the Junos® Trio chipset with revolutionary 3D Scaling technology, the MX 3D Universal Edge Routers enable quality of experience by processing two to four times more traffic than the competition — up to 2.6 terabits per second — while using half as much power per gigabit.
