Upstate Niagara Cooperative Selects tw telecom for HighSpeed Communications Links between Multiple Locations

– Internet and data provider delivers cost-effective and efficient IP VPN and other network services for 386-member organization

Oct. 18, 2010 (PR Newswire) —

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — tw telecom, (NASDAQ:TWTC, news, filings) a leading provider of managed voice, Internet and data networking solutions for businesses in New York and throughout the United States, today announced a multi-year agreement to provide managed communications services for Upstate Niagara Cooperative, Inc.  The competitive award includes connecting the Cooperative’s seven locations with IP VPN and EIS for all internal communications, business continuity back-up, voice and potential video applications.  Installation will complete in December.

“I appreciated tw telecom‘s professional approach,” said Anna D’Arata, Information Technology Manager at Upstate Niagara Cooperative, Inc. “They took the time to learn our business, and they asked the right questions about not only what we need now, but what we’re going to need to continue growing in the future.”

“The Cooperative needs to be operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Jim Groark, tw telecom‘s  vice president and general manager in Rochester.  “Any downtime is unacceptable, so they needed a provider with network reliability that builds redundancies into their plan, and provides an end-to-end solution for future growth. As we deliver our fiber network to a number of their facilities, we’re creating a highly scalable and reliable last mile for them.”

tw telecom connects more commercial buildings to its fiber network than any other competitive communications provider. In fact, it has the third highest market share of retail Ethernet ports in service. With its own metro fiber networks and one of the ten most interconnected IP backbones in the world, tw telecom has the national capability, robust product portfolio and national/local customer care teams to support mission critical enterprise applications and to deliver the industry’s most sought after customer experience.
