Manchester, N.H. (October 4, 2010) – FairPoint Communications has purchased almost $6 million in new trucks, vans and cars from two regional automobile dealerships, adding to the $15 million previously invested in 2008 by FairPoint in new vehicles. Trucks, vans and cars, 174 in all, will be purchased from Grappone Automotive Group in Concord, New Hampshire and Rowe Ford Sales in Portland, Maine. These new vehicles will be used throughout northern New England. They will augment the existing fleet used by FairPoint technicians installing and maintaining service throughout the area as the company continues to expand high-speed broadband service availability.
North American Equipment Upfitters of Hooksett, New Hampshire will provide associated customization services which include adding the aerial buckets and storage compartments needed on each vehicle as well as the FairPoint Communications logo and signage. “This work from FairPoint has been a real shot in the arm for our company during tough economic times,” according to Michael Dunican, president of North American Equipment Upfitters. “We were able to bring back 22 skilled employees and add 10 new positions to our operations in Hooksett. We certainly value our relationship with FairPoint.”
