Colt to simplify organisation to deliver future growth

21 October 2010

Colt Group S.A., a leading provider of business communications and IT managed services, today announced plans to simplify its organisation to drive growth, increase efficiency and improve service effectiveness.

With effect from early 2011 Colt intends to simplify the way it goes to market and will be organised into three new customer-facing units supported by two service units.

The new customer-facing units will comprise:

  • Colt Enterprise Services will integrate the activities of Colt’s existing Managed Services and Major Enterprise divisions to focus on the direct selling of products and service solutions to end users, primarily large enterprises;
  • Colt Communication Services will integrate the activities of Colt’s existing Wholesale and Midsize business divisions to focus on indirect channels by selling transactional services to other enterprises – principally carriers – and to smaller customers via channel partners; and
  • Colt Data Center Services will focus on selling large scale data center space to large enterprises and providers through a small specialised direct sales team.

The two new service units will support the three customer facing units and comprise:

  • Infrastructure Services Unit will integrate the current activities of Colt’s network and managed services operations, along with its Technology and IT divisions. Applying an ITIL based framework across these activities will reduce time to market, making it easier for customers to do business with Colt; and
  • Business Services Unit will integrate the current activities of the India and Barcelona Shared Service Centres to scale Colt’s processing effectiveness and enable delivery on a pan-European basis.

The Company expects to take an exceptional charge of approximately €35 – 40 million in 2010 to increase efficiencies amounting to approximately €35 million in a full year. Of these annual efficiency benefits approximately 35% will be invested into new customer facing roles, providing recurring annual cost savings of approximately €20 million.

Commenting on the changes, Rakesh Bhasin, Chief Executive Officer said: “We believe these changes will help us to deliver our strategy to be Europe’s leading information delivery platform. We are simplifying our organisation to enable us to be even more responsive to our customers’ needs. At the same time we will be investing in our business to strengthen our customer-facing operations to drive future growth.”
