bwin Achieves Unrivalled Connectivity across Europe with Interxion

VIENNA 28 October 2010 – Interxion, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announced that bwin, the world’s leading, publicly listed online gaming platform, has extended its data centre requirements, taking additional space in Interxion’s Vienna data centre as well as, most recently, space in one of Interxion’s Paris data centres.

bwin facilitates more than 30,000 bets a day across 90 sports in 22 languages and 25 core markets, making it the world’s leading online gaming platform. As a result it requires connectivity, resilience, uptime and low latency, as well as robust security to comply with a wide range of strict compliance regulations.

Interxion’s 28 data centres across Europe are built to a uniform design and specification, providing secure and resilient environments for high-availability applications. Each site incorporates advanced, multi-level security systems, 2N UPS power and N+1 cooling redundancy, and high-density power configurations, making it an ideal environment for the digital media and gaming sector to manage and distribute content online.

The range of connectivity provided across the Interxion footprint also ensures the highest levels of online performance. The Vienna site has direct access to almost 100 carriers/ISPs as well as VIX (the Vienna Internet Exchange), and the Paris site provides access to over 50 carriers/ISPs and four Internet Exchanges, including France’s Largest Internet Exchange, France-IX.

“The first thing we were looking for was a supplier that could give us access to the carriers we need, along with guaranteed uptime for our online users,” said Johannes Hobel, Head of IT Infrastructure & Operations Vienna at bwin. “After an in-depth market analysis, it quickly became clear that Interxion was ‘best-in-class’, offering the best selection of carriers, the best technical specifications, the best references and excellent know-how.”

“We are delighted to contribute to the exceptional success and growth of bwin, one of our largest customers,” said Christian Studeny, Interxion Austria Managing Director. “This latest agreement is further evidence of our growing reputation as one of the leading pan-European colocation providers for the fast-growing digital media and gaming sectors.”
