Blue Bell Creameries Selects Level 3 for Network Services

Level 3 to Provide Blue Bell with IPVPN Services for Corporate Network Applications

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Oct 11, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced that it has signed an agreement with Blue Bell Creameries, an ice cream distributor based in Brenham, Texas, to provide the company with Internet Protocol virtual private network (IPVPN) services in place of its previous frame relay services.

Under the terms of the three-year agreement, Level 3 will provide Blue Bell with IPVPN services, connecting 52 remote sites to facilitate Blue Bell’s critical corporate applications such as product production, shipping and sales fulfillment, and maintenance tracking. “Being in business for over a hundred years has taught us the value of a reliable partnership. Level 3’s local, hands-on approach and desire to meet our specific network challenges were central in our decision to leverage their solution,” said Charles Gaskamp, Blue Bell IT Manager. “We are dedicated to providing our customers the highest-quality product possible, and working with Level 3 will better enable us to facilitate this goal and meet the increasing challenges of our expanding business.”

“In today’s networked business environment, it is crucial to understand the varying challenges that may affect enterprise productivity and to meet those challenges with a local team of communications experts,” said Andrew Crouch, president of Sales for Level 3. “We are pleased that Blue Bell will be able to use our network services to more effectively manage their business and, ultimately, better serve their customers.”
