RE: Verizon/Google Legislative Proposal

FLORHAM PARK, N.J., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — The Verizon/Google legislative proposal is a constructive addition to the debate over net neutrality.  Global Crossing has long preferred market solutions to government regulation of the Internet and the Verizon/Google proposal strikes a reasonable balance.  However, the ultimate success or failure of any net neutrality proposal, including the Verizon/Google proposal, hinges on the ability of service providers to establish the necessary interconnection arrangements required to support the delivery of advanced services across multiple networks.  If the Verizon/Google proposal for “additional online services” is accepted, then it must be accompanied by more robust peering arrangements that support such services across the Internet by multiple network operators.  Global Crossing looks forward to working with industry and government to establish these peering arrangements that are so critical to the delivery of feature-rich Internet services to all consumers.
