CAMBRIDGE, MA – August 25, 2010 – Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM, news, filings), the leading provider of cloud optimization services, today announced that Finish Line, a premium athletic footwear retailer, has implemented Akamai’s Dynamic Site Accelerator to enhance the customer experience on Finishline.com.

The Akamai solution has helped Finish Line speed up the performance and availability of its site. Since leveraging the Dynamic Site Accelerator solution, Finish Line has experienced an average reduction in page loading times of 50 percent. In addition, Dynamic Site Accelerator has allowed Finish Line to offload some of the site’s dynamic content to the Akamai globally distributed platform, freeing up company servers and reducing downtime.

“Our core consumer has an affinity for technology and spends a significant amount of time on the Internet. Not only do we need to continuously update our site to ensure that our product catalog is featuring the most current styles, but we also must ensure that our site is loading fast. Consumers expect Finishline.com to perform flawlessly and will quickly take their business elsewhere if it does not,” said Finish Line’s Senior Vice President, E-Commerce, Technology and Operations, Roger Underwood. “By teaming up with Akamai, we’re able to deliver the robust experience our customers demand and can rely on Akamai to handle site performance and availability issues for us. Our team is free to concentrate on strategic initiatives designed to grow our e-commerce business.”

“Consumers nowadays have less patience to wait for a site to load when searching for a product and they can easily go to other competitors’ sites when the site they are on is slow,” said Pedro Santos, chief strategist, eCommerce, Akamai. “Therefore, online retailers such as Finish Line are striving to provide the best possible shopping experience and environment for their consumers. Leveraging Akamai’s Dynamic Site Accelerator service, retailers can deliver an enhanced, reliable user experience with the goal of building brand loyalty.”
