ATLANTA JOURNAL CONSTITUTION CONNECTS FACILITIES ON FIBERLIGHT’S FIBER OPTIC NETWORK

Ringed Topology Creates Secure Access to Private Network

Atlanta — 8/17/2010

FiberLight, LLC , one of the nation’s leading providers of mission critical, high performance fiber optic networks, today announced that the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a member of the Cox Media Group, has deployed FiberLight’s LightSource© Ethernet service to provide a full Gig of transport capacity to multiple facilities across the Atlanta metropolitan area. The end-to-end customized network solution is built on a redundant, dedicated, multi-node ringed platform to create a secure Private Network.

“We needed a network that offered the security of no shared resources, 99.999% reliability and sub 2ms latency. FiberLight was a great fit strategically as they are very responsive with terms, services and pricing,” said Jim Davis, Director, Infrastructure & Service Delivery at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “FiberLight offered deep reach outside of the Atlanta CBD into other suburban markets, which enabled the newspaper to connect geographically diverse locations on one high performance network.”

FiberLight built each location of the private network with full redundancy in support of the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s core infrastructure and high-bandwidth applications, while providing 24/7 monitoring of the fiber and network. The system monitors customer paths for stress, laser degradation and power issues and significantly improves accuracy and response time in the event of a fiber cut or issue.

“FiberLight’s strength is in our robust fiber footprint and our ability to build a network solution that provides the security, uptime and transport capacity necessary for mission critical applications and infrastructure needs, while our state-of-the-art network monitoring system future proofs the network architecture to support business continuity,” said Kevin B. Coyne, FiberLight President and COO. “We are pleased to provide the Atlanta Journal-Constitution with a state-of-the-art network solution with enough built-in flexibility to accommodate future growth.”
