  • Akamai Improves SaaS-based Application Download Speeds by 169 Percent for leading market research management platform

SYDNEY, Aust. – August 31, 2010 – Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM, news, filings), the leading provider of cloud optimisation services, announced it has been appointed by Insight Marketing Systems, a global market research company, to deliver its SaaS-based application, Research Reporter. Research Reporter helps global corporate market research teams to leverage the power of their marketing knowledge, improving the quality and efficiency of the research process and pro-actively managing their research resources. Insight Marketing Systems has been deploying the Akamai Web Application Accelerator solution since March 2010. During tests undertaken in May 2010, Akamai proved to significantly reduce the average download time for the website. Insight Marketing Systems’ previous data centre delivered an average webpage download time of 2.07 seconds. When deploying Akamai’s services, average webpage downloads were over 2.5 times faster, with webpages delivered to the user in 0.77 seconds. This equates to a download speed improvement of 169 percent.

Ian Teague, ANZ country manager for Akamai said, “It’s immensely satisfying to be able to exhibit such marked improvements in the performance and speed of the Research Reporter website. The reliability and reach of our global server network played a critical role in our selection because it ensures worldwide availability of the company’s Research Reporter product. More and more B2B applications are moving onto the Web and widening their global reach, but in turn, they must ensure that their Web delivery to stakeholders is seamless. Improving download speed remains a critical goal for businesses with SaaS applications and the Akamai network is in a great position to assist.”
Chris Forbes, Co-Founder of Insight Marketing Systems, commented, “Research Reporter is designed to help corporate market research teams leverage the power of their marketing knowledge. Many of our clients are global corporations with local research teams across multiple regions. This partnership with Akamai means that local research teams will be able to access and share research just as quickly as head office, whilst still ensuring enterprise-level security”.

Akamai’s Web Application Accelerator solution globally delivers the response times, security and availability that drive application adoption, productivity and revenue.
