360NETWORKS LEVERAGES SONUS NBS-9000 NETWORK BORDER SWITCH
FOR ADVANCED IP PEERING AND SESSION BORDER CONTROL

Facilities-Based Wholesale Telecommunication Provider Adds Capacity, Augments Its IP Network with Sonus’ Unique Hybrid Trunking Capabilities

WESTFORD, Mass., August 31, 2010 – Sonus Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:SONS, news, filings), a market leader in next-generation  IP-based network solutions, today announced that 360networks, a full-service provider of Private Line Transport, VoIP, IP Transit, and Local Access services, has added capacity and advanced IP peering capability to its network using the Sonus NBS-9000 Network Border Switch. The Sonus NBS-9000 Network Border Switch supports a hybrid configuration, which serves both TDM-to-IP and IP-to-IP traffic through a common platform.

360networks owns and operates an 18,000 route-mile fiber optic backbone, one of the most advanced networks in the country, providing deep and dense coverage from the Mississippi River to the Pacific. By leveraging this backbone, 360networks’ service provider customers can quickly pursue next-generation strategies, migrate from legacy networks, expand their geographic footprint and services, and increase network diversity.

“We are witnessing consistent growth and market demand for VoIP as well as other IP services,” commented Brady Adams, chief technical officer at 360networks. “We needed to be able to scale to meet this growth cost effectively with an integrated solution for both TDM and VoIP services. The Sonus GSX9000 media gateway has proven reliable for 360networks and we look forward to adding the NBS functionality as a catalyst for our continued expansion of services.”

“360networks is a great example of a network where the hybrid approach, unique to Sonus, demonstrates a positive return on investment,” commented Guru Pai, chief operating officer at Sonus networks. “By combining TDM-to-IP and IP-to-IP traffic on the same platform, 360networks can migrate their networks to IP, while keeping pace with demands faced by its wholesale customers. We are pleased that 360networks has trusted us with their business.”

360networks will deploy the Sonus NBS-9000 Network Border Switch that is based on the GSX9000™ platform and the PSX™ Call Routing Server in a centralized configuration, along with the Sonus Insight Element Management System for centralized network management and reporting.
