FiberLight Builds New Versatility into LightSource Product Line For Virtual Network Operators

Alpharetta, GA — 6/3/2010

FiberLight, LLC, one of the nation’s leading providers of mission-critical, high-performance fiber optic network solutions, announced today it is developing a new product to offer a virtual metro network service for Virtual Network Operators (VNO’s) looking to expand their footprint from a single hub in a market to multiple aggregation points and end user locations cost effectively. The new offering, available with a 1 or 10Gig backbone, allows the VNO to optimize the network and aggregate Ethernet and TDM traffic onto the ring from four to six network onramp points per market and access over 90% of the businesses within a metropolitan area.

“The key benefit we see for VNOs is the ability to expand their customer reach cost effectively without having to extend capital and OPEX costs when establishing multiple collocation facilities.  The cost-savings inherent in aggregating existing Ethernet and TDM traffic onto one network by optimizing the local access piece in large metro areas like Washington D.C., leveraging FiberLight’s extensive reach and existing aggregation points, will improve the economics of any VNO participating,” said Ben Edmond, FiberLight’s EVP of Sales and Marketing.

FiberLight’s LightSource® VNO offers more than 60 off net access partners from local carriers to global providers, which supplies the reach to serve all of the VNO’s business opportunities from 10MB to 10Gig.  In addition, FiberLight’s own OnNet buildings in the metro will become virtual tributaries off of the VNO backbone accessible as cost effective drops that can be moved as the demands change within the metro. The new service will enable companies to achieve higher level SLAs and speed the time-to-delivery while driving down the cost of access.

“FiberLight’s metro product offering is layered on fully managed state-of-the-art network architecture, which provides deep reach into the metro while guaranteeing sub 2ms latency, best-in-class jitter performance and the robust connectivity to data centers, colocations, carrier hotels and other points of presence considered vital for customer access,” Mr. Edmond said.
