BroadSoft Launches Xtended App Incubator

Offers funding, feedback and support to maximize developer success

GAITHERSBURG, MARYLAND, June 10, 2010 – BroadSoft®, the leading global provider of IP-based communications services to the telecommunications industry, today announced the launch of its Xtended App Incubator program to accelerate the development of innovative communications applications. BroadSoft published a list of the most desired application ideas from BroadSoft’s customers and will provide funding to selected application developers who bid to fully develop one or more of the published ideas.

Developers from across the globe are invited to submit their credentials and capabilities, for consideration by BroadSoft no later than July 9th 2010. Selected developers will receive immediate seed funding to build some of the most sought-after communications applications, as identified by BroadSoft through extensive collaboration with its global telecommunications service provider customers. The successful developers will also be given the opportunity to earn ongoing revenues from the recently announced BroadSoft Xtended Marketplace.

“Developers in the telecommunications industry face two big challenges today. The first is the cost of the development and the second is ensuring that their idea has demand in the market,” said Shirish Andhare, VP of Emerging Markets at BroadSoft. “With this unique program, we are mitigating both these risks and challenging our developer community to build great apps that are most desired by subscribers. With our Xtended Developer Program and Marketplace already in place, we also offer the development infrastructure and a ready channel for these developers to immediately promote and monetize their applications through our 425+ global carrier customer base.”
