IRISH PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTER RTÉ SELECTS HIBERNIA MEDIA FOR HIGH QUALITY CONTRIBUTION NETWORK CAPACITY

HIBERNIA MEDIA CONNECTS THE BROADCASTER WITH NEWS AND PROGRAMME SOURCES GLOBALLY, OFFERING DIVERSE, HIGH BANDWIDTH CONNECTIVITY

SUMMIT, NJ & DUBLIN, IRELAND- May 24, 2010- Hibernia Media, formerly known as MediaXstream Inc., and a subsidiary of Hibernia Atlantic, the only diverse transAtlantic high bandwidth connectivity provider, today announces RTÉ, an Irish public service broadcaster, has selected Hibernia Media for high performance, fibre network capacity for international contribution links for its television news services and programmes.

Hibernia Media’s diverse network footprint provides reliability and high capacity to RTÉ’s news coverage and programme making.

As Ireland’s public service broadcaster operating two television channels and four radio channels, publisher of a best-selling magazine and provider of up-to-date news, current affairs, sports and entertainment information via its media website, it’s essential for RTÉ to have high performance network capacity to source programme material for its varied media and news outlets.

The Hibernia Media network provides RTÉ with secure connectivity from major media hubs throughout Europe and the United States via its northern transAtlantic low latency route; this routing is vital to the delivery of high quality video and streaming feeds. By leveraging Hibernia Atlantic’s Ireland network, which connects Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland directly to Europe and North America, RTÉ is able to link its Dublin broadcasting center to the European Parliament in Brussels, as well as to the BT Tower in London, along with high capacity connections from global media and broadcasting entities such as the BBC <http://www.bbc.co.uk/> . The added capacity also connects RTÉ’s Dublin facility securely across the Atlantic to Washington, D.C. where it connects to major United States’ news feeds.

“We are honored to be selected by RTÉ as their high bandwidth, international contribution network connectivity provider,” states Del Both of, President of Hibernia Media.  “Global media production and broadcast entities demand high performance, and our diverse network backbone offers RTÉ high availability routes to source media services from  Europe and the United States. And notably, the contract with RTÉ with RTE also extends Hibernia Media’s footprint further into Europe, offering more global connections and network diversity.”
