Cisco Unified Service Delivery Deployed for Customers at Andover and San Jose Data Centers

NaviSite Managed Cloud Services Offers Fully Operational Cisco Unified Computing System

Andover, Mass., April 19, 2010 – NaviSite, Inc. (NASDAQ:NAVI, news, filings), a premier provider of complex hosting, application managements and managed cloud services for enterprises, today announced announced that NaviSite’s Andover and San Jose data centers have deployed the Cisco Unified Service Delivery (USD) solution which combines the power of the data center with the power of the Cisco Internet Protocol Next-Generation Network (IP NGN) to transform service delivery and build a foundation for cloud services to any number of enterprise clients. See today’s related announcement “NaviSite Sets the Stage for Enterprise Application-Focused Cloud Services.”

Moreover, NaviSite has fully integrated the Cisco Unified Computing System as a key technology foundation for NaviCloud, NaviSite’s cloud computing platform. Cisco Unified Computing System unites computational, network, storage access, and virtualization into a scalable, modular architecture that is managed as a single system.

The Cisco Unified Service Delivery solution enables the NaviCloud platform to optimally utilize pools of resources within any given data center and apply them to any service offering. By interconnecting data center islands to the IP NGN, USD further utilizes resources across the network, which can significantly reduce capital and operational costs. NaviSite is using the Cisco USD for service delivery which combines the benefits of the Cisco Unified Computing System architecture and the Cisco Nexus family and ACE with multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) across the IP NGN.

“NaviSite was an early adopter of the Cisco Unified Computing System and is now fully deployed to offer its unique benefits to enterprise customers,” said, Soni Jiandani, vice president of marketing, server access virtualization business unit, Cisco. “The Cisco Unified Computing System is a key element in the Cisco Unified Service Delivery portfolio, which evolves the data center into a more consolidated, virtualized and automated environment and lays the foundation for extensible cloud-based service delivery. We are working closely to support NaviSite and their NaviCloud platform to provide our mutual customers with cloud IT infrastructure services based on the Cisco Unified Service Delivery architecture.”

“This is a game-changing development for NaviSite. Traditional IT infrastructures are quickly evolving as virtualization and new technologies impact cost strategies and alignment with the business,” said Brooks Borcherding, president of NaviSite, Inc. “Acquiring, integrating and managing new technologies is not feasible for many enterprises effected by the downturn in the economy. NaviSite intends to work with Cisco’s global sales force bringing guidance and expertise to enterprises that are seeking a better understanding of the inherent benefits of moving their IT operations to the cloud.” Today’s announcement of Cisco Unified Computing System being deployed for NaviSite builds on the progressive relationship NaviSite has had with Cisco in developing the NaviCloud platform which was first announced in October 2009 at the Gartner IT Symposium.
