NTT Com Expands WLAN Roaming in U.S. and U.K. Airports

TOKYO, JAPAN – NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today a reciprocal agreement with world-leading Wi-Fi service provider Boingo Wireless, Inc. (Boingo) to enable NTT Com HOTSPOT™ customers to use some 70 Boingo wireless local area network (WLAN) access points for data roaming in airports and other locations of the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, while Boingo retail customers visiting Japan gain access to NTT Com HOTSPOT™ WLAN access points, both beginning April 1.

The new locations include major airports such as JFK, LaGuardia (LGA) and Newark (EWR) in the New York area, Dulles (IAD), Reagan National (DCA) and Baltimore-Washington (BWI) in the Washington, D.C. area, O’Hare (ORD), Denver (DEN) and Houston Intercontinental (IAH) in the Greater Midwest, and 11 terminals and ferries owned and operated by WSDOT in and around Seattle in Washington State. In addition to 11 airports in Canada, locations in the United Kingdom include London Heathrow (LHR), London Stansted (STN), London Gatwick (LGW), Edinburgh (EDI), Glasgow (GLA) and Aberdeen (ABZ) airports.

Subscribers of NTT Com’s HOTSPOT services, including Course 1-3, HOTSPOT Business 3G, OPEN Plan or OPEN Plan Light, can use Boingo access points by simply entering their regular HOTSPOT Login ID and password. The access charge is 25 yen (tax free) per minute, but no application or startup fee is required. As a special promotion, Global Roaming via Boingo access points in the month of April will be free of charge (excludes access in those venue by Global Roaming (iPass, BT Openzone, T-Mobile, Swisscom or Monzoon)).

In Japan, Boingo retail customers can roam NTT Com’s broad nationwide WLAN network covering hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, airports, train stations and even selected railcars on major business routes.
