Frontier Communications Opens Washington, DC Office

STAMFORD, Conn., Mar 01, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Frontier Communications Corporation (NYSE:FTR, news, filings) announced today that it has opened an office in Washington, DC at 2400 N Street, NW, 7th Floor, Washington, DC 20037. This new office reflects Frontier’s close working relationship with members of Congress and their staffs, the Federal Communications Commission and other federal agencies.

Kathleen Quinn Abernathy, Frontier’s Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President, Regulatory and Government Affairs, who is based at Frontier’s corporate headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, will oversee this office.

“Opening this office is a natural step for Frontier, since we already spend significant time in D.C.,” said Maggie Wilderotter, Chairman and CEO of Frontier. “We believe a local presence will allow us to enhance our relationships with the FCC, members of Congress and their staffs and the many agencies and partnerships in the area that play an important role in developing and implementing communications policy.”

Ms. Abernathy recently joined Frontier Communications; most recently she was a partner in the Washington, D.C. communications law firm Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP where she advised clients on a wide variety of legal, policy and regulatory issues related to telecommunications and media. Prior to that, she was a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of the law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP and served as a Federal Communications Commissioner from June 2001 to December 2005. Prior to this, Ms. Abernathy held executive positions at several telecommunications companies. She served on the Frontier Board of Directors from April 2006 to February 2010.
