Telx Optimizes Performance across 1,200 Facility Installations and 28,000 Connections with Emerson’s Data Center Configuration Management Software

Company becomes first colocation provider to leverage highly scalable software platform for improved data center environmental visibility, enhanced customer experience through best-in-class management solution

  • Aperture VISTA 600 Data Center Configuration Management software from Emerson Network Power provides unprecedented data center element management visibility and configuration capabilities
  • Telx deployment of Aperture VISTA features began in December 2009 to better optimize its colocation facilities’ key efficiencies:  equipment, space, power, cooling and connectivity.
  • The partnership makes Telx the first colocation provider in the United States to feature this granular level of element visibility and management, giving colocation and data center customers the competitive edge to more accurately forecast, plan and manage networks.

New York, NY – (Jan. 26, 2010)Telx, one of the largest domestic interconnection and colocation data center operators, announced today it has selected Aperture VISTA 600 software from Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, to enhance the management of the physical infrastructure of its colocation facilities and enterprise data centers. Using Aperture VISTA, Telx will be able to more accurately provide its colocation and data center customers with the ability to forecast, plan and manage their critical network element requirements. The platform will also allow for highly efficient connectivity provisioning capabilities for Telx customers’ growing demands for low-latency business solutions.

Telx will leverage Aperture VISTA to make best-practice decisions related to infrastructure management, enabling improved capacity planning for more than 750 leading telecommunications carriers, ISPs, content providers and enterprises currently communicating throughout its 15 North American facilities. In addition, enhanced visibility and advanced impact analysis will help customers avoid under- or over-provisioning resources, improving energy efficiency and reducing risks associated with network changes.

“At Telx, we’re continuously implementing innovative tools and capabilities across our facilities that enable our customers to build the best possible communication solutions for their businesses,” said Eric Shepcaro, CEO of Telx. “Aperture Configuration Management is a powerful software tool that will help us provide real-time information and analysis our customers need to better optimize efficiency, plan and manage capacities and improve network availability. This solution will give our customers a competitive edge as they expand their data centers in 2010.”

Emerson Network Power’s Aperture VISTA 600 Data Center Configuration Management provides a single source for information on the data center physical infrastructure, including equipment, space, power, cooling and port connectivity, to deliver complete current-state information on data center devices and the relationships between them.

“Integrating Emerson’s Configuration Management capabilities into Telx’s infrastructure management strategy will provide the visibility and insight needed to optimize the future requirements of their complex and ever-changing physical infrastructures,” said Thomas Waun, president of Emerson’s Aperture business. “We’re proud to offer a solution that will help them to continue to improve the quality, reliability and cost effectiveness of their infrastructure planning, design, provisioning and analysis in some of the world’s most advanced datacenter locations.”

Telx’s customers are a single cross-connect away from a global ecosystem of networks, reducing costs and latency and allowing direct exchanges of information. Initial implementations of Aperture VISTA began in December 2009, with roll-outs to all of Telx’s 15 data centers expected by the end of the first quarter of 2010.
